Project Goal

To create a fun and informative app that helps organise household cleaning & laundry tasks whilst encouraging the use of cheaper, environmentally friendly cleaning solutions.

Background

FGB Natural Products cares for the health and wellbeing of the whole family. An independent Australian-owned company, FGB produces essential oils, nutritional supplements, home health devices and more. From household cleaning to coughs and colds, FGB owns the famous 'parrot brand', Bosisto's - an Australian icon that's over 160 years old.

My involvement

Whilst busy working on a wide variety of packaging, digital, web and print design projects, I had an idea to create an app for Bosisto's.

I saw an opportunity to create tool to help solve a problem: co-ordinating cleaning in shared houses and in family homes. An app that would help allocate tasks and advise on the use of natural and safe cleaning products.

I enrolled in a challenging UX design course at General Assembly. Over the following months I pestered my teacher Homaxi Irani and I worked extremely hard. I learnt more in those months than I had thought possible. It was great.

I teamed up with a UX colleague

I invited my favourite UX colleague Michael Farnbach to assist me and and we applied our knowledge to facilitating successful user interviews and conducted online surveys. We assessed this analysis and started grouping ideas, user quotes. I card sorted, scribbled, sketched and brainstormed. Michael drank coffee, played his ambient music and used his clever and creative brain. We embarked on many user flows and quick wireframes and tested these. We sketched again. Prototypes were created and and a logo designed. A high-fidelity prototype was created and tested. I took the project for feedback from the amazing and inspiring UX team at Aconex (thank you Kirsten Mann and all the team) who gave me hours of time and some incredibly useful feedback.
